SUMMARY: In our age when all that was once marginalized seems be revalued and when the ”minor” cultural, ethic, racial groups have undergone a radical change from being mere ”satellites” of the mainstream culture to becoming the shining stars of their own system, an approach of issues concerning Jewish-American literature and identity seems to be a challenging thing to do. The present book aims to analyzing Saul Bellow’s work within the multicultural theoretical framework where the issues of ethnicity, mainstream vs. Ethnic literature and the double condition of being both an outsider and an insider into the New World culture may underline elements pertaining to a Jewish literary and ethical legacy in the novels of the author and see how exactly this specific legacy is used by the writer in the context of a supposedly WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) American culture.
